Hydraulic Hose for Excavator

Hydraulic Hose for Excavators - Engineered for High-Impulse Service

Boom, arm, bucket, swing and travel circuits demand hose that survives continuous cyclic loading. Our excavator hydraulic hose - EN 856 4SP/4SH spiral and SAE 100R2 braided - is impulse-tested to 400,000 cycles and built to OEM equivalent specifications for Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, JCB, Volvo, Doosan and Liebherr machines.

Excavator Hose Solutions

The Hose That Keeps An Excavator Working

An excavator's hydraulic system operates at the harshest end of the hydraulic hose spectrum. Pressure spikes from rapid valve shifts, constant flexing on the boom and arm, abrasion from contact with the structure, and exposure to weather and UV - all of these work against the hose every hour the machine is in service. A failure on a 30-ton excavator costs the contractor not just the hose but a full day of machine time.

That is why excavator hydraulic hose must be specified, not just purchased. Quanyi Rubber engineers hose for excavator service using four-wire spiral EN 856 4SP and 4SH constructions on high-pressure circuits, two-wire braid SAE 100R2 / EN 853 2SN on medium-pressure and return lines, and one-wire SAE 100R1 on drain lines. Every hose is impulse-tested to 400,000 cycles - the equivalent of 4,000-8,000 operating hours on a typical excavator.

We supply excavator hose as bulk length for distributors, or as pre-crimped assemblies complete with SAE flange, JIC, BSP, ORFS or custom fittings - proof-pressure tested and ready to install. Provide your OEM part number or machine model, and our engineers will cross-reference to the correct construction.

Excavator Circuits

Hose Solutions For Every Excavator Circuit

Boom & Arm Cylinders

Highest-pressure and highest-impulse circuits. EN 856 4SP spiral hose rated 28-35 MPa working pressure, with 400,000-cycle impulse certification. Sizes 1/2" to 1".

Bucket Cylinder

High-pressure line with frequent pressure spikes. 4SH spiral or 2SN braid depending on machine size class. Abrasion-resistant cover standard.

Swing / Slew Motor

Moderate pressure with continuous cycling during operation. 2SN braided hose in 1/2" to 3/4" sizes, often with 45° or 90° fittings for tight routing.

Travel Motor

Highest-flow circuit on the excavator. 4SP spiral or R12 spiral in 3/4" to 1-1/4" sizes, designed for high impulse and outdoor exposure.

Pump Discharge

Main pressure line from hydraulic pump to control valve. 4SP spiral hose rated to maximum system pressure, often with SAE flange (Code 61) fittings.

Return & Drain Lines

Low-pressure return to tank and case drain lines. SAE 100R1 or 100R2 braided hose, sized for low pressure drop and routed away from heat sources.

Specification

How To Specify Hydraulic Hose For An Excavator

Specifying excavator hydraulic hose is more than matching a part number. The right specification considers pressure, flow, impulse severity, routing, abrasion exposure and fitting compatibility. Below is the engineering approach we use when helping distributors and equipment owners select hose for excavator service.

  1. Determine system pressure: Use the excavator's main relief valve setting, not nominal operating pressure. Add a 25% safety margin. Select hose with working pressure at least equal to relief pressure × 1.25.
  2. Calculate flow velocity: Hydraulic fluid should flow at 4-6 m/s in pressure lines, 2-4 m/s in return lines. Undersized hose causes heat and pressure drop; oversized hose adds cost and weight. Use hose ID matched to pump flow.
  3. Choose reinforcement construction: Braided 2SN for medium pressure and flexibility; spiral 4SP for high pressure and high impulse; spiral R12/R13 for extreme pressure. Excavators typically use spiral on boom/arm and braided on return/drain.
  4. Select cover compound: NBR/Poly blend for abrasion resistance on boom routing; EPDM for UV and ozone resistance on external routing; MSHA-style flame resistant for mining machines.
  5. Match fittings: SAE flange (Code 61/62) for pump and valve ports; JIC 37° for cylinder ports; ORFS for high-vibration joints; BSP for European machines. Crimp diameter must match hose construction.
  6. Route for service life: Avoid sharp bends below minimum bend radius. Use protective sleeves at abrasion points. Allow slack for cylinder extension. Pin-prick covers if gas permeation is a concern.

Following these six steps dramatically reduces in-service hose failures. We work with buyers to apply them to specific excavator models - cross-referencing OEM part numbers to equivalent Quanyi Rubber constructions and providing a complete hose specification sheet for each circuit.

FAQ

Hydraulic Hose For Excavator - Frequently Asked Questions

What hydraulic hose size is used on excavators?
Excavator hydraulic circuits typically use 1/4" to 1" ID for boom and arm cylinders, with 4SP/4SH spiral hose on high-pressure lines (28-35 MPa working pressure) and 2SN braided hose on return and drain lines. Travel motors often use 3/4" to 1-1/4" spiral hose. Exact size depends on machine weight class and pump flow.
What is the difference between 4SP and 4SH hose for excavators?
4SP (EN 856) has a smaller ID at the same dash size and higher working pressure - typically used on the highest-pressure circuits. 4SH has a larger ID at the same dash size and slightly lower pressure rating - used where higher flow is needed. Both are four-wire spiral construction designed for high-impulse excavator service.
How long should excavator hydraulic hose last?
Properly specified and installed excavator hydraulic hose should deliver 200,000-400,000 impulse cycles - typically 4,000-8,000 operating hours depending on application. Hose on the boom and arm sees more cycles than travel circuit hose. Replace at the first sign of cover cracking, blistering, leakage or kinking.
Do you supply equivalent hose for Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, JCB excavators?
Yes. We manufacture equivalent hose to OEM specifications for Caterpillar (CAT), Komatsu, Hitachi, JCB, Volvo, Doosan, Hyundai, Kobelco and Liebherr excavators. Provide the OEM part number or machine model and we will cross-reference to the correct hose construction.
Can you supply pre-crimped excavator hose assemblies?
Yes. We supply excavator hose assemblies cut to length and crimped to your fitting specification - SAE flange, JIC 37°, BSP, ORFS, code 61/62 flanges and custom fittings. Each assembly is proof-pressure tested before shipment.
What is the lead time for excavator hydraulic hose?
Standard sizes ship in 7-15 days. OEM equivalents or custom-assembled hose with fittings typically take 15-25 days. Container orders for distributors complete within 25-30 days. Sample lengths available for testing.
